A Christian upbringing was ingrained in me from birth. In spite of having been raised in a Christian household with my dad being a pastor, I never considered entering the ministry. My life as a teenager was turned upside down by a major health issue. I grew up learning  about God's love and goodness, but it didn't teach me how to cope with illness or adversity. During that low point in my life, I rebelled against God. I realize that when I lost faith in gave up on God, God never gave up on me. I never saw myself in a ministry role, yet God began shaping me for one anyhow. Even though being a pastor is a ministry, my family is my first ministry. My wife and I were shocked by our oldest daughter's diagnosis a few years later. Just like I am, she has been told they have found that they have the same condition. My daughter and I were both diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes fifteen years apart on the exact same date! We didn't seek out this ministry, but God clearly saw fit to equip us for it. The Lord is now utilizing our experience to provide peace and comfort to others through the sharing of our story. We were overjoyed to answer God's call to Beaumont, California, because we know the Lord has wonderful plans for Beaumont and the people who live there. With Garden City Church, we hope that people will feel at ease exploring their faith in God and discovering what it means to follow Jesus.
