Advent Books

There are so many advent books out there that it may be difficult to choose which one(s) to read. I have narrowed down a list of the books I have read for myself as a devotional through the Advent season, and I have included an Advent calendar that my wife and I go through with our kids.

Here is a list of the books and links to buy them:

Louie Giglio is a phenomenal story-teller. He paints a vivid picture of the gospel and he takes you back to how it would be to live during the time of the birth of Christ. This is a staple advent devotional to add to your library!

Buy: Waiting Here for You

Sinclair Ferguson is one of my favorite authors/theologian/pastor. His insight is always so helpful, practical and rich. This devotional is a new book and it is also newer to my rotation of advent books. You will really enjoy his devotion for advent.

Buy: The Dawn of Redeeming Grace by Sinclair Ferguson

This is the advent calendar we use for our family devotion. It’s interactive and my kids get excited about counting down the days til Christmas.

Buy: The Wonder of the Greatest Gift

C.H. Spurgeon, known as the “Prince of Preachers”, is able to articulate the gospel in such a profound way. In this little book, Spurgeon gives way to the meaning of Christmas and his way with words gives a visual to the power of the gospel.

Buy: Joy to the World

Anything that Tim Keller writes, preaches or endorses is typically a must-have in your library. Tim Keller has always had a heart for those burnt out on religion or seeking philosophical answers to God and Christianity and Tim Keller does just that in this great Christmas book.
